After a month long controversy, the most hyped movie of 2017
finally released on 25th Jan 2018. Padmaavat is a typical Sanjay
Leela Bhansali venture where you travel to an altogether different world with impeccable
cinematography, jaw dropping sets, most beautifully crafted jewelry and costumes.
He indeed pays attention to every single detail of his film except for the
storyline. I really had high expectations from this movie as everyone around me
was going gaga over this film. But to my disappointment, it was nowhere close
to my expectations.
I don’t understand if it’s because the cuts that were made
while censor board certification or the actual story was written in such a
manner. Also, one thing that bothered me the most is that Jauhar was an event
that happened during that era. There was absolutely no need to glorify it and showcase
it with such heavy background score as if it was such a proud moment. If it
actually was such a proud practice then it would have not been abolished long
ago.
Deepika Padukone is amongst one of my favorite actresses but
honestly I did not find her as breathtakingly beautiful as she was portrayed in
the movie. Infact, there was a scene where she was interacting with Aditi Rao
Hydari and Aditi was looking far better than Deepika. But still Khilji was mad
about Padmavati not for her own queen Mehrunissa. Here Mr Bhansali could have definitely
worked upon (by may be hiring a better make-up artist).
Shahid Kapoor is I think the most unfit person for the character
of Maharawal Ratan Singh. I felt he was looking like a kid who has been
burdened with heavy clothes and jewelry. The only people who made this film
tolerable for me were Ranveer Singh and Jim Sarbh. They were just effortless
and that is what that makes both of them brilliant actors.
But still, this is what I felt, you can still go and watch this
film and let me know if “Am I the only one who didn’t like Padmaavat?”
I felt like killing Khilji when he asks Maharawal Ratan Singh for meeting Rani Padmavati.
ReplyDeleteYes this is what.. Ranveer Singh made us hate him so much by loving his natural acting 🙂
DeleteLoved all your three blogs ...Keep writing ...Keep inspiring :) and yeah I also didn't find padmavat that good ...All those slow motion walks made me feel like forwarding the scenes.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for sonu k titu ki sweety :D
Thank you Ankita 🙂
DeleteNo, you are not alone. I felt that the movie should have been named "Khilji" :)
